Menu planning

I have just started with weekly menu planning. It takes more work than what I thought it would. I have been planning a baking day for a while so I thought I would try to make a lot of food that I need. I also think that I will bake some cakes that I can store in bins and take out when we have guests or for dessert.

Here is the first week dinner menu I have planned:
Monday:  Chicken salad with green beans.
Tuesday: French blue mussel stew (with self picked blue mussel) and bread
Wednesday: Cabbage rolls
Thursday: Curry soup and cocktail medallions
Friday: The norwegian dinner course "raspeball" with salted pork and saussages
Saturday: Turkey cabaret with fruits and bread
Sunday: seafood table: Filled crab shells, crab toast, shrimps, white bread and whine, salmond paté.
and for dessert: either "American apple cake", "spice cake", fruit pie or macron hats.

For my baking day I will do
"the 3 hour bake"
"macron hats"
filled pies and baguettes
"ham hatts"
Fish pie
meat pie
filled horns
hotdog and hamburger breads
fruit pie
orange cake
spice cake
American apple cake
apple muffins

It's a lot of things so I might split it into more than one bake day, but I will make everything ready anyhow.

til next time

Unvoluntary spring clean.

This afternoon when I came home from the university I was med with the rank smell of cat urine, so i got into my comfy cleaning clothes at had at it.

A litle warning: I have been in bed with the flu for a week and the house looks like a tornado ran through it (most of it are all the clothes that my kind husband washed that I never got out of bed to fold.

The first thing I did was to run the "I'm looking innocent so you won't think it was me" cats out of the living room, grab all the pillows from the couch they urinated in and tossed them into the bathroom. Next it was the cover - straight into the washer with that one, and out with the potato flour (?) to take the moist out of the spots (they were still wet... ) and vacuumed it off after it had done it's job. Next I mixed up a cleaning solution from JIF, lemon juice (to battle the smell), a bit vinegar (also to battle the smell and to help clean the fabrics), hot water and sprayed it all on the couch. A new round with potato flour wich is drying as I write. Looking around then I figgured "oh what the heck" and decided on an early spring clean this year.

So i grabbed the dishes and started cleaning but had to stop after half and hour on account of lack of detergents. So this gave me a short welcome break since I was already short of breath and coughing like I'd been smoking for 100 years (no I don't smoke... anymore).

The plan for the night is to fold all the clothes, finish up the couch and wash all the pillows, sort all my lecture notes and place them in the correct binder... Then I'm going to bed for tomorrow is another day and it is full of cleaning to-do's.

Toodle-pip for now

Lazy spell over.

The last week I've been incredible lazy. I've relaxed and done everything but work. My husband have been in Italy on a choir competition and today he comes home. The house is a mess, I am a mess and I'm all out of energy... What do I do? I put on my "house cleaning music"!

My mother always played the same CD when we were doing the saturday-cleaning. It was a cd of hits from the 50's and 60's  and unfortunately I no longer can find my copy of that disc. But I do remember some of the songs, and thanks to spotify I can put them on the stereo on full volume, cleaning away. :)

It seems like it's so much easier to do housework when you have some speedy music to listen to, so this will be my tip-of-the-week: Music to the work.

Here are the songs I have right now on my playlist:

Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison
Rockin' Robin - Bobby Day
Sixteen Candles - The Crests
Stand By Me - Ben E. King
Born To Hand Jive - Sha Na Na
Rock And Roll Is Here To Stay -Danny & The Juniors
Rock Around The Clock Tonight - Bill Haley & The Comets
Diamons Are A Girls Best Friend (Swing Cat Mix) -  Marilyn Monroe !I have the original version too!
Hit The Road Jack - Ray Charles

These are not all on the cd in discussion, but I do know for certain that Pretty Woman, Stand By Me and Rockin' Robin are on it.
My Mother has promised to call me after she gets home from her hike to give me the names of all the songs so I can find them and make myself another record.

Do you have music that you listen to when you clean?
